This section lists all of the characters in the game alphabetically, and briefly describes where they are encountered and their role in the game. Just knowing about characters and/or their names may be spoilers so read at your own risk.

CHARACTERS

• Abominable Snowman
  This huge monster shows up in the snow covered mountains. He will kill Gwydion unless he is out smarted.


• Baba Yaga
  The witch is not easily found and serves no real purpose in the game. She can provide a quick walk down memory lane if Gwydion does manage to stumble upon her little house.


• Bandits
  There are three places that Gwydion may encounter the bandits. It is their duty to steal others belongings and there is always a chance that Gwydion will be the unfortunate target. They are also seen (and possibly overheard) in the Port Bruce Tavern. And of course can be found in their secret hideout.


• Cat
  Manannan's cat wanders all around the house. He and Gwydion don't seem to get along too well so watch out for the hairy thing, and don't forget that a good swift kick may not be out of the question.


• Chickens
  Manannan keeps two chickens in a small coop near the house. The feathery little critters have been around a long time and may know more than poor Gwydion thinks.


• Chipmunk & Squirrel
  Chipmunks and Squirrels frolic about in the forests of Llewdor. Surely they have seen and heard much while innocently collecting their dinner.


• Dragon
  The three-headed menace has become the bane of Daventry. Even the royal princess must comply with it's demands. But Daventry has never been held captive to evil for long, and surely someone will manage to defeat the beast.


• Gnome
  A much kindlier being than that encountered by Graham in his search for the royal treasures, this gnome makes his home near Castle Daventry and has a fair bit of knowledge about is happening in the realm.


• Graham
  The king of Daventry has been through a great deal, but it seems there is little he can do about the dragon terrorizing his realm. If only he had an heir that could take up where he left off...


• Guybrush
  A life of adventure on Monkey Island has shown he can overcome (or lie his way out of) difficult situations. I wonder what he has been up to?


• Guard
  The Castle Daventry has many loyal men in its employ. We get only a brief glimpse at one of these men.


• Gwydion / Alex
  A slave to the wizard Manannan his whole life, Gwydion is the hero of our tale. He must escape the evil wizard and make his way out into the world before the wizard decides he has outlived his usefulness.


• Kenny
  A loyal and friendly pet of the Port Bruce Shopkeeper, the dog enjoys the attention he is given by customers.


• Lizards
  Throughout the desert in Llewdor small creatures can be found moving about. With little else to do, the lizards are likely to know a good deal of local gossip.


• Maid
  Even the royal families servents are not above Manannan's influence, and the maid that took young Gwydion proves it.


• Manannan
  The evil wizard has kept watch over the land of Llewdor for a long time and has had more than one "servant" to do his bidding. Surely the world would be a better place if someone found a way to turn the old wizard's evil magic against him.


• Medusa
  A creature of countless nightmares, Medusa is said to turn anyone that looks upon her to stone. Travel through the desert becomes much less appealing knowing that she is out there somewhere.


• Mordak
  The younger brother of Manannan, Mordak is sure to have his own evil abode somewhere in the world. Who knows what evil schemes they talk about when together?


• Oracle
  Able to see visions of events throughout the world, the mysterious oracle has no desire to leave her dark cave. What sights would her crystal ball reveal were the young slave Gwydion to visit?


• Ravens
  The forests of Llewdor are home to many different birds. If only we could know what thoughts go on in their tiny brains...


• Rats
  Large ships have always been home to countless vermin. Would that they could tell us how many of the sailors tall tales were really true.


• Rosella
  The princess of Daventry has many a duty she must attend to. Unfortunately, the duty this time seems to be serving as a sacrifice to the Dragon that is ruining the realm.


• Pirates
  Port Bruce has seen it's fair share of pirates. Bandits on boats, pirates are the subject of many tales involving buried treasure and are known to do many things to get their hands gold coin.


• Shark
  When traveling the vast oceans, an encounter with a shark or two is quite common. Just hope that you don't encounter any while taking a dip.


• Spider
  A spider may be much harder to spot than its web. Rumors of a huge spider in Llewdor keep it's inhabitants from venturing into any dark caves.


• Shopkeeper
  A small store in Port Bruce is run by a friendly man and his dog.


• Three Bears
  These strange bears have made themselves a small cottage in the forests of Llewdor. They don't take to strangers, which is too bad, because they are rumored to make the best porridge around.


• Valanice
  The queen of Daventry makes only a brief appearance, but what else would you expect from a mother who has lost a child only to have the other be made a sacrifice?

This section gives the solutions to all the puzzles in the game. It is broken up into two parts: Llewdor and Beyond Llewdor. In an attempt to spoil as little as possible, the results of actions are left out whenever possible. On the same note, this section does not get you a maximum score, simply goes over the main things that must be done to beat the game.

This section does NOT give information about how to find "easter eggs". You can ask around on the forums but there is no official easter egg list.

SOLUTIONS

• Llewdor
  • 
    First things first, do your chores
    • Go left one screen and enter the house. Manannan will tell you to do one of the following.
    • Feed the chickens: There is a yellow feedbag behind the fence and leaning against the chicken coop. Use the bag.
    • Clean the kitchen: There is a broom leaning against the back wall in the kitchen. Use it.
    • Clean the study: There is a duster sitting on the cabinet in the bottom left of the study. Use it.
    • Empty Manannan's chamber pot: There is a small brown pot sitting on the floor near the left of Manannan's bed. Use it.
  • 
    Chores are done... now what?
    • After your chores are done, feel free to explore for a bit. You can go anywhere you want in the house the two outside mountaintop screens. As you are exploring pick up the following items:
      • Cup: On a shelf in the dining room.
      • Spoon: On a rack on the back wall of the kitchen.
      • Knife: On a rack on the back wall of the kitchen.
      • Bowl: On a shelf in the kitchen.
      • Mutton: On the table in the kitchen.
      • Fruit: On the table in the kitchen.
      • Bread: On the table in the kitchen.
  • 
    Chores are done and I'm done exploring...
    • If you've done the chores and picked up all the "Good" items, there's only one thing to do. Wait. When the game clock reaches 5 minutes Manannan will show up and tell you he is going on a journey. (You can view the game clock by clicking on the Control Panel Button in the top navigation bar.)
      *You can pick up items other than the "Good" ones, but be careful. If Manannan catches you with any "Bad" items, it's game over. If you do decide to pick up everything you find while exploring, be sure to hide it under Gwydion's bed before 5 minutes has elapsed.
  • 
    
    * Manannan has gone on a journey or is sleeping *
    • Once Manannan has gone, Gwydion is free to do as he wishes without the Wizard popping in to spoil the fun. Almost everything Gwydion does from now on requires the absence of Manannan's watchful eye. There are three occasions Gwydion can go about his business:
      1. Manannan leaves on a journey - Time: 5min until 30min
      2. Manannan goes to sleep - Time: 35min until 1hr
      3. Manannan leaves on another journey - Time: 1:05 until 1:30
      4. etc, etc... till his fourth meal.
      5. *He "Checks in on you" 2 minutes before each.
      Be sure that you are back at the house and have all of your items hidden under the bed before he returns!
  • 
    
    Getting some "Bad" items around the house
    • Now that Manannan is not around to keep an eye on you it's time to grab everything you can get your hands on. Here's a list:
      • Fly Wings: Upstairs in the observatory there is dead fly on the floor, grab it.
      • Hand Mirror: In the drawer of the vanity in Manannan's bedroom.
      • Magic Map: Inside the closet (or wardrobe) in Manannan's bedroom.
      • Rose Essence: Inside the small desk on the right wall in Manannan's bedroom.
      • Brass Key: You might see a quick sparkle on top of the wardrobe, that's the key.
      • Chicken Feather: Feed the chickens (use the yellow feedbag behind the fence), open the fence, get close to a chicken and then grab it.
  • 
    Venture beyond the house
    • Before you attempt to make it down the treacherous mountain path, it would probably be a good idea to save (and maybe save a couple time on the way down). Carefully make your way down the path because you CAN fall off the edges and die. When you get to the large boulder go around the right side. You're not in the clear until you make it all the way down off the mountain, even falling off on the bottom screen is possible.
      *Once you have gone down the mountain successfully it is no longer possible to fall off. This is useful if you haven't gotten the map or simply forgot to get it back from under the bed.
  • 
    The eagle feather
    • If you are lucky, the first time you make it down the mountain an eagle will fly by and drop a feather. It probably won't happen though. If you move back and forth between the mountain base and the screen to it's east, you have the best chances of running into the eagle.
  • 
    Check out the desert... but watch out for Medusa!
    • Medusa: Traveling west from the mountain's base, you eventually come to a desert. Be careful! You will almost definitely encounter Medusa. As soon as you enter the screen, move in a bit and then turn back around and face east. After Medusa shows her ugly mug, wait for her to approach about halfway and then use the Hand Mirror on her.
    • Desert Items: With Medusa taken care of, you are free to move about the desert, just don't head west and get lost in the endless dunes. In the north you should find a snakeskin lying on the ground, and to the south there is a stubby little cactus. You can't grab it with your hands, but you can use the Knife to cut off a piece.
  • 
    A quick side-trip to the swamp
    • If you go north into the swamp you will come across a small stream that drains into the swamp. Scoop up a nice spoonful of the mud on the stream's bank.
  • 
    The Three Bears
    • Southeast from the base of the mountain, you will come across a small cottage. There are four possibilities here.
      1. The cottage is sitting quietly with no one around and nothing happening. If you try to enter the cottage, Papa bear will probably pop out and get rid of you.
      2. Mama bear is working diligently in the small garden. Again, if you try to enter the house, Papa bear will get rid of you.
      3. All three bears will come walking in from the north. The third instance in which Papa bear will not let you enter.
      4. The three bears will leave on a walk. This is the one you want. Knock on the door and when no one answers, enter.
    • 
      Once you've managed to get inside the house, there are two things you need to grab.
      • Porridge: Try the porridges on the table until Gwydion finds one he will take with him.
      • Thimble: Upstairs there is a small dresser tucked in the back corner, inside a drawer you will find the thimble.

  • 
    The Bandits
    • You may have come across the bandits already, but it is not necessary to complete these tasks.
    • The Acorn Tree: Southeast of the mountain base, you should come across a large tree with acorns on the ground. At the base of the tree there is a small hole you need to reach into.
    • (While you're here, don't forget to look around for some Dried Acorns)
    • The Hideout: Now that we can get up into the hideout, be careful that you don't enter unless the bandit inside is asleep. Once you do get in, grab the Money Pouch off the table, and if you were robbed earlier, open the box in the back corner to retrieve your items.
  • 
    Port Bruce
    • Now that Gwydion has got some money, head to the small town on the east coast and head into the shop. There are a two things to do here.
    • Dog Hair: The shop keeper's dog Kenny is lying on the floor. Be a nice guy and scratch him behind the ears.
    • Spending Money: There are four things to buy: Lard, Salt, Fish Oil, and a Pouch. To buy the items, 'use' the various items displayed on the shelves.
  • 
    Mistletoe and Water
    • The last two things you can get right now are the Mistletoe and Ocean Water.
    • Mistletoe: Just south of town you find a nice sprig of Mistletoe on a tree.
    • Ocean Water: Head out to any of the beach screens and use the Cup to scoop up a bit of water.
  • 
    Manannan's secret
    • Head back to the house and into Manannan's study.
    • The Wand: Remember that locked cabinet in the corner? Well, now you can unlock it with the Brass Key. You'll find the wizard's trusty wand inside.
    • The Trapdoor: Feel around the bottom right of the back bookshelf. You should find a switch that opens up the door.
    • (Be careful going down the stairs, that pesky cat likes to trip people.)
  • 
    In the Lab
    • More Ingredients: On the bookshelf you will find a few more items you'll want to take with you: Fish Bone, Mandrake Root, Saffron, Nightshade Juice, Toad Spittle and Toadstool Powder.
    • Casting Spells: You should now have everything you need to cast all of the spells except Teleportation at random. Use the book lying on the table. Now right click to cycle your cursor until you get to the "cast" cursor. Go ahead and cast all of the spells except Teleportation.
  
  
  • Get rid of the wizard
    • Before Manannan gets back, close the trapdoor, put the wand back, make the Poison Porridge, and hide any left over "Bad" items under your bed.
    • Poison Porridge: Combine the Cat Cookie and the Porridge in your inventory.
    • Now the next time that Manannan tells you he's hungry, give him the porridge. *He only eats after returning from a journey.
  • 
    
    * Manannan is due back and I didn't get everything! *
    • Don't worry. Hide any "Bad" items under your bed, put the Wand back if you got it, and make sure the trapdoor is closed. Now all you have to do is wait (and maybe kick the cat a few times) until Manannan leaves again or goes to sleep.
  • 
    
    The Oracle
    • Getting rid of the spider: Head to the large web-covered cave. Get close to the web (but not too close!) and use the eagle feather on the Magic Rose Essence
    • Meet the Oracle: Just head into the cave after you've taken care of the spider. She will give you the Amber Stone when you are done talking.
    • Teleporting: You can now go back and cast the Teleportation at Random spell, though it is not necessary to beat the game.
  • 
    Pirates
    • Once you've done everything you want to in Llewdor, head down to Port Bruce and the Pier and pay the Captain for passage on his ship.

  • 
    The belly of the ship
    • When you find yourself stuck in the hold of pirate ship, grab the small box from the eastern room and use it on the large box below the ladder in the western room. You can then climb the rope by clicking the arrow cursor (automatic) on the ladder.
  • 
    Missing Possessions
    • Mid-deck on the pirate ship is the captain's quarters. You may have to enter and leave the screen a few times, but once the captain is absent from his room, head over the chest is the bottom left corner and open it up to get back all your belongings.
  • 
    A Shovel
    • To the west of the captain's quarters on mid-deck is the crew quarters. Again, you may have to enter and leave a few times to make sure there is no one there to grab you, but when the coast is clear head over near the small boat and grab the shovel.
  • 
    Buried Treasure (optional)
    • What use is a shovel going to be in association with pirates you ask? Why, buried treasure of course! While it is not necessary to get the treasure it will add points, but to know where to dig for the treasure Gwydion has to know about it. There are a couple of very talkative and well informed rats down in the hold, you might stop and in a listen for a while.
  • 
    Land Ho!
    • Of course at some point Gwydion is going to want to escape the pirates, but it is not a good idea to attempt fleeing in the middle of the ocean. You have to wait until you here "Land Ho, Captain!" (which can seem like a long time to some people). Once you have heard the announcement you have two choices, you can attempt to sneak up top and jump overboard (no points) or you can put the pirates to sleep and then jump over board (earns points). To put the pirates to sleep you need to head down to where the rats are hanging out and dump the sleeping powder on the floor. To jump overboard, go topside and head to the easternmost screen where there is a large gap in the railing, and just walk out.
  • 
    Getting to land
    • Okay, so you jumped overboard, and you know there is land somewhere because you heard the pirates say so. So where is it? Swim east and you should see it, but be weary of the shark. You will have to out maneuver the shark (possibly exiting and reentering the screen) to make it safely to land.
  • 
    Buried Treasure... again.
    • Once you have made it safely to land, and if you listened to the rats tell about where the treasure is hidden, head east to the screen with the palm tree. Line yourself up on the right side of the palm tree and move east a bit. You should be able to dig (use the shovel) just right of the palm's shadow.
  • 
    Mountain climbing
    • When you're done sun bathing on the beach, it's time to head up into the mountains. To the north of the beach is a path. Follow the path to a large boulder and then make your way (still using the walk icon) up the boulder and back onto the path. Continue along the path until you come to a tiny waterfall. You will need to climb up here rather than continuing on the path. Keep going... *Remember to be careful because it is possible to fall from these paths and die.
  • 
    Yeti
    • As you make your way east in the snow covered mountains, be careful not to go too fast. On the screen one east of the cave, don't move. As soon as you enter the screen, dip the Eagle Feather into the Magic Rose Essence.
  • 
    Caves and more caves
    • After fooling the Yeti, head south. Click on the ledge of the cave at the very top (or even the hole of the cave) and Alex will climb down to it. Next, walk over to the right and climb to the cave that's there to the right (it's basically in the middle of the caves and it has a red outline). Once there enter that cave and you'll come out of the cave that's on the bottom left. Climb across the pile of rocks that's to the right and enter the little tiny cave that's to the right. You'll then come out the final cave that opens onto the path and you're home free.

    A friendly Gnome (optional)
    • You will eventually make your way to another cave. Don't enter just yet. Head west and then north and chat with the Gnome, he reveals a little bit about what has been going on while you were away.
  • 
    Even more caves
    • Head back to the cave one screen east of the old well. Make your way carefully up the wooden path. The path itself is fairly straight forward and you should have no problems, but if there is a particular place that seems to be giving you trouble it will be easier to just ask for help on the forums.

    Dragon
    • Once you have made it up and out into the clouds, use the Invisibility potion on Gwydion before going any further. Now head west. Before the Invisibility wears off, use the Storm Brew potion on the Dragon. Once it is done dying, go over an untie Rosella. Congratulations, you have beaten King's Quest III.... but did you get all the points?
