Working on Space Quest 2 remake has been really awesome and rewarding. We've been working on this beast for years now, and a lot has happened to us personally during the production. In between working out backgrounds, animations and programming kinks, we've had marriages, baby births, cancer treatements, kidney failures..... the list goes on.
But it's been awesome to work on the game.
Me, personally, I love Space Quest in a really special way. I had so much fun playing these games in my youth - I remember, many a night in a dark room, lit only by the glow of my CRT, moving Roger around rooms, exploring..... I can't describe how much fun it was... the games were so witty, colorful, fun.... you never knew what could happen.
So trying to get this game out is really important to us. We're working on a few minor details now, but we're really getting close. We just need to finish recording the voice pack, and finish up a few graphical items, and a couple of programming glitches. But the game is there.
I follow Scott Murphy's twitter feeds - if you don't, check him out - it's a riot. In his bio recently, he lamented about how he feels about Space Quest. I can imagine that living with creating, producing, and making those games back in that era is a hard thing to live with now. And I'm sure there's a lot of bitterness there - but I have to say, even though it's a small niche group of people who still love the games, we love Space Quest so dearly. And, though there may have been a lot of crap along the way in making it, it's worth it to us out there - because it's a part of our hearts.
I wouldn't have put all this work into a Space Quest II remake if it didn't mean something to me; if it didn't matter deep in my heart. It does. The gift of laughter and entertainment are priceless.... especially to a youngster who had a rough time growing up and finding his place, fitting in the world.
No, Space Quest doesn't suck. There's magic in the code and mystery in the pixels and it touched my heart, and I'll be forever greatful for that.
Thanks, Scott Murphy. Sincerely. You made a difference in my life. And I know I'm not alone.

If you see far, it is because you stand on the shoulders of giants - and that you're also getting pretty damn tall yourselves. Amazing effort; thou art soon to be a two game team, and I am excited to play this one alongside the classic space quests.

Sleeping was good though, you can't dispute that.
Oh, update, nearly all the lines are recorded! Two pieces of programming are required to be finished and the game is done! Testing is almost done (once those two things are finished). And BAM! You'll have a game.
