I get a lot of emails about SQ2. Most are nice inquires, or praise for what we do. That's awesome! But this one dude KEEPS writing me with such an attitude. I've posted about him before. Here's his latest letter and my response. --- On Sun, 1/16/11, MoosecockDeux < Moosecock2@chello.nl> wrote: From: A GIANT MOOSECOCK Subject: Space Quest 2 To: info@infamous-adventures.com Date: Sunday, January 16, 2011, 5:45 PM Hello?? You do not answer e-mail, the Space Quest 2 project has been halted (or so it looks), way to go guys! Moosecock,
You know, you're a real prick.
The game is not halted, it's just being worked, fervently, behind the scenes. We have a lot of programming bugs to take care of, as well as hours of audio to edit. Most of us were extremely busy with family and work during the holiday season as well. Remember, we're doing this - mounting a professional production - with ZERO BUDGET and NO COMPENSATION. We don't have the time to devote 20 hours a day to working on the game. Most of us are lucky if we can get an hour here or an hour there.
I've replied to your emails many, many times. So many, in fact, that just now when my wife asked me who I was writing, I told her and SHE said "You write that guy all the time....." My wife, who isn't involved with IA know about you.
I'd wish gonorrhea on you, but I seriously doubt you have the ability to engage in coitus. If I had my way, you'd never ever be able to play Space Quest 2 when it's done, and I am, for sure, now going to hide a reference in the game insulting you and your small mind.
Have a nice day!
Bt
Ugh. I've been sick with the flu all weekend, I'm tired, achy, and crabby, and the last thing I need on a Monday is another message like this! Hahah. Anyway, thanks to the supportive fans - of which we have many, and to our detractors, you all suck. Bt

Hahaha, well said BT!
You are the most patient person at IA, if this guy makes you want to twist and remove his testicles then he must be a true ASSHAT.

Thanks for sharing Bt, even though I know this assclown is bugging you, It sure did make me laugh reading your response. I can understand people wondering whats going on with the game and being enthusiastic about its release, but being a jerk because of selfish reasons is just a boneheaded move. Bt your a stand up dude. Now when the fuck is SQ2 coming out you bastard!

It's just that this jerk is constantly writing and insulting us. You know, insult me all you want, but the guys who work for IA are the best people on earth, period. They work very hard for long hours with no pay, and I won't have someone demean them.

Holy shit! SQ2 is cancelled? I am glad that this assjack apprised us of the situation. I guess that means I can delete all the cool new features I added last week and go take a nap.

That new 'asshat blocking code' will come in handy now. No one who is deemed an asshat will be able to play SQ2. Instead they'll get access to dancing Carrot top sprites.

Yeah, I just don't get that fool. If you go to the forums over at MMG looking for something about their KQIV remake you will find a dead forum with no updates. If you come here, especially now with the contest...etc. you will find new posts regularly. Yeah not mucg about SQII but at the same time this place at least has a pulse. The last few days we tend to see 40+ people on the site at a time.
Either that guy is a complete moron and can't see that things are happening, or he is just a tool, or more likely both. I wouldn't give him the pleasure of adding something in just to insult him though, that would only give him satisfaction. The best possible solution would be to send him an early copy of the "game" that is filled with all types of malware and no parts of SQII.

Yeah. I can understand being a bit frustrated since SQ2 has been in development for a reasonable amount of time. People have to realize though that it's to their benefit. No one on IA wants SQ2 to still be in development. It's the commitment to creating a quality experience for the player that's preventing us from releasing it.
I really don't know how people come to the conclusion that something is dead when people are still active on the team. Yes, I guess we don't release a whole lot of info or graphics on the game. The reason for that though is we don't want to spoil anything. I guess I could write a developer blog occasionally, but really there isn't a whole lot to talk about other than more bugs have been fixed or we are implementing things we can't talk about.

I guess I sat back for a while thinking, "are they really going to release this game" for a while before I became a tester. I think it is hard on people when they hear, "release is close" and then not to see anything for a year. Close is a relative term and for the people out there waiting for the game, they are probably thinking close means in the next few weeks.
When I became a tester, I was pleased to see a nearly completed game that was fully playable from start to finish. The voice pack was not implemented and there were a large number of bugs, but the game was good. It has become much more polished since I got involved about 6 months ago. It isn't done, but it will be finished. When it is released it will be one of the most polished fan made games out there. I can't wait to see it released. To those of you waiting, it will be worth it.

Yeah, we use the term CLOSE.. very losely around here. Close means that if we all invested normal office hours into the game it would be released in a month or two.
That translates into couple more months when we are working actively on a game. It becomes longer when parts of the staff are on break, or personal leave.
Not to mention that people forget that while our CLOSE to being released statement, can be altered if we change something in the game (mechanics, gameplay, visual aspects). So yeah..

My favourite word in your response: Moosecock. Describes this ingrate really well.
We've seen what great things you guys can do with KQ3... we're more than happy to let you polish out a game that you're happy with.. not a moment before. Because even more disappointing would be a game that sucked floppy donkey dong due to bugs etc.
All the best! Looking forward to it and your other projects!

Moosecock is great.
When I read that the first time, I for some reason saw what I have quoted above. Ha. I need more sleep.
