So, I live just outside of Baltimore, and we're over 30 inches here. Wtf? I'm going berserk with boredom, and it's still friggin' snowing. Any other IA members dealing with this shit?

For once, we're not getting the brunt of a snow storm here. Welcome to every winter in Syracuse, Steffi.

Haha - yeah, we've most likely set a record here for snowfall. Baltimore is not equipped to deal with this shit, but supposedly, the highways are somewhat clear. and they're saying a chance of more snow on Tuesday/Wednesday. What the hell, Baltimore, what the hell? We usually get around 18 inches of snow a year, total.

Well, as I mentioned last night, we got snow. Nowhere near two and a half feet like you, but we still got quite a bit. However, at this point, everything that needs to be dug out has been.

My street still has not been plowed. My job has no liberal snow leave policy - if anything, I will probably end up having a huge fight with my boss if I'm unable to get in tomorrow. To top it off, they're calling for 5+ inches of snow on Tuesday night. So, I don't know if I'll be able to get to work, I haven't been able to get out, I haven't seen my boyfriend in way too long, and I'm getting seriously moody. FUCK YOU, SNOW.

We had like 6 inches of snow last night. But there's so much salt on the streets here that snow melts away pretty fast.

It snowed its ass off here last night. I welcome it because I got to sleep in. My boss called me and told me not to worry about work. Sweet!

So, now 10-20 inches of snow forecast for tomorrow night into Wednesday afternoon. The county I live in isn't going to plow my neighborhood - they claim they "can't make the turns." Glad to know what my taxes are paying for. Thankfully, my boyfriend is awesome and picked me up at the entrance to my neighborhood - which is plowed. I am now camped out at my parents' house, so they can get me to and from work so I don't get fired over this shit. Fuck you, snow.

The snow laughs at your petty mortal concerns.
And yes, my neck of the woods is gonna get some more as well. Not as much as Steffi, but still at least several inches.

Traditionally this is the coldest month for me but yesterday was sweater weather and there's barely any snow left, I don't know what's going on up here in Canadia.
Also, this forum has now officially reached the point of dryness where we have topics about the weather.

It's not that the forum is getting dry its that we're all getting older. When we see a "those darn kids" thread then i'll know we're all going down hill.

this whole community is essentially a "those darn kids" thread. We sit here reliving retro gaming adventures all the while hating those halo playing kids that caused the death of our genre. A friend of mine recently told me that they thought "The proposal" was the greatest film they had ever seen. I said surely you're exagerating, she said no it really was her favorite so I said "People like you are the reason bad movies are made and good movies are rare." The sad part is those people are the majority and they exist in gaming too. At first I thought I was being an elitist but have you ever noticed that a lot of the time top selling games are just awful?

This is where the subjectivism that fuels consumer culture's values concerning happiness are somewhat self-defeating (in an idealogical way). Basically we define freedom as the ability to do whatever you want within reason (basically taking moral law as self-evident). One of the rules of your individual pursuit, though, is that you shouldn't harm or impede anyone else's pursuit for happiness (John Stuart Mill provided us with this assertion in his harm principle). The problem with this, of course, in the pop culture biz is illustrated by your friend. Part of their pursuit of happiness is watching movies like The Proposal and the people that produce movies like it are pursuing their happiness through making absolute shit loads of money. So we see the unpopular movie maker that makes films for art's sake get the short end of Mill's stick because after all movies are "subjective" and "it's just your opinion" whether they're good or not. He doesn't fit into the capitalist cycle.
